Medium: Acrylic & Photography
Inspired by my teacher, Randall Weidner, I use colors in a bold way and acrylics have an intensity that watercolors do not have. I want the viewer to experience the full intensity and life of the colors I am using and to depict my interpretations of landscapes or to be totally abstract.
The varying techniques I like to use in painting are direct application, diluting right on the canvas, and giving movement using a straw, or spraying of alcohol, or even using salt. I'll add texture, to create some interest and will occasionally use sponges or different types of brushes.
The goal of my photography is to capture and transform images from my eyes to the lens of the camera.
I am a member of the Artists Council at the Palm Springs Art Museum and took an experimental group workshop on "Driven To Abstraction" and Dee Hansen‘s workshop “Acrylic Transparent vs Opaque Excitement.” My art was selected by jurors into the 2013 15th Annual Palm Springs Art Show.
I have studied the works of Phil Schmidtz of British Columbia and international artist Randall Weidner now of Palm Springs, and I was taught art and sculpture by the great Yugoslavian art professor, Zeljko Kujundzic, in British Columbia, Canada.
Winner of the most hits on my art donated and sold for the 2013 99 Bucks event which raises money for educational programs at the Palm Springs Art Museum.
